Vertical Curve Elevation Formula

Formula
$$y = EPVC + g_1 \cdot x + \frac{(g_2 – g_1) \cdot x^2}{2L}$$

Where:

  • $$y$$ — elevation at point xx
  • $$EPVC$$ — elevation at Point of Vertical Curve (start of curve)
  • $$g1$$ — initial grade (decimal, e.g. 0.02 for 2%)
  • $$g2$$ — final grade
  • $$x$$ — distance from PVC (horizontal)
  • $$L$$ — length of the vertical curve
