Area of Rectangular Duct Calculator

This calculator estimates the total surface area, shina length, and corner count required for manufacturing rectangular ventilation ducts. It considers duct dimensions, quantity, and optional seam allowances, making it essential for HVAC fabricators and planners.

Area, Shina, and Corner Calculation Formula

Formula
\[\text{pl} = 2 \cdot \left( \frac{A}{1000} + \frac{B}{1000} + SC \right) \cdot \frac{L}{1000} \cdot N \]\[\text{Shina} = 2 \cdot \left( \left( \frac{A}{1000} + \frac{B}{1000} \right) \cdot 2 – S \right) \cdot N \]\[\text{Ugol} = 8 \cdot N \]

Where:

  • $$A$$, $$B$$ β€” side dimensions of the duct (in mm)
  • $$L$$ β€” length of the duct (in mm)
  • $$N$$ β€” number of duct units
  • $$SC = 0.02$$ if seam is enabled, otherwise 0
  • $$S = 0.12$$ if seam is enabled, otherwise 0

This calculator is designed to help engineers and HVAC installers determine the materials needed to fabricate rectangular ductwork. It converts all dimensions to meters, adds seam allowance where specified, and outputs the total surface area (pl), the length of the metal strip or shina (Shina), and the number of corner pieces (Ugol). This ensures accurate budgeting and cutting of materials for sheet metal ductwork.
